In the virtual machine, I initialize the disk and I create a new volume. Then I add a RDM disk to the backup VM and I select the LUN. First I create an LUN in the Synology NAS and I map this LUN to right iSCSI target. But we need a backup repository to store the backup.
VEEAM BACKUP VCENTER PATCH
If you have not already installed patch 3 I suggest you do that now. Now that vCenter is connected to Veeam, we can backup VM. Looking at their KB article 1751 we now see “ Upgrading vCenter or ESX(i) hosts may result in duplicate hosts appearing under Managed Servers, causing jobs to fail with object not found errors“. Veeam has released patch 3 for Veeam Backup & Replication 6.5 which now solves this issue.
VEEAM BACKUP VCENTER SOFTWARE
It provides fast, flexible, and reliable recovery of virtualized applications and data, bringing VM backup and replication together in a single software solution. You can manually go in and remove these, however make sure you make a database backup first and if you feel unsure then do not hesitate to call Veeam and ask for their help to resolve this. Veeam Backup & Replication is a powerful, easy-to-use, and affordable backup and availability solution that supports VMware vSphere virtual environments. What seems to happen sometimes are that the ESXi host(s) upgraded from fx 4.1 to 5.1 will stay in the SQL database. #4 Add the standalone hosts in the backup job Restore the vCenter VM to the standalone host: Note: Be sure to select the option 'Restore to a new location, or with different settings' After the vCenter VM is restored, remove the standalone host that was added to Veeam Backup & Replication to facilitate the restore. #2 Add each host as a standalone host with correct credentials Add the standalone host to Veeam Backup & Replication. #1 Remove the vCenter from Veeam (unfortunately this means deleting all jobs currently using it or as a minimum remove the VMs from the job). I am sure this is something that has been fixed in Veeam B&R 6.5 (soon to be released). But it’s approach does not always work, for example in the case of a database corruption the VM restore could be not working. We will go to our Veeam Enterprise Manager and login: Once inside we’ll go to Configuration: Within this configuration, we can already see the vCenters section, we will check that we have the latest version of vCenter 6.7, as well as the latest version of Veeam Backup & Replication v9. After upgrading their VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter to 5.1 (unsupported) they could suddenly no longer backup VMs one of their two hosts using Veeam.įailed to login to “” by SOAP, port 443, user “”, proxy srv: port:0Ĭannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password. One common way to backup the VMware vCenter Server Appliance (VCSA) is to manage as a common VM and use a backup solution to backup (and restore) the entire VM.
